There has been an update to the application scoring matrix to be used for IMT and Physician Higher Specialty Training for 2023 recruitment. The updated version is available in the Document Library.

The primary change is in response to a decision by the Medical and Dental Recruitment and Selection (MDRS) Programme Board, which govern specialty recruitment, requiring the additional undergraduate degrees section to be removed from the scoring matrix; this includes intercalated degrees which are awarded as a masters. 

This ruling applies to all specialties and is not specific to physician specialties. The ruling is due to the inequity of access to these opportunities due to financial implications or disadvantaging those whose medical degree does not offer the opportunity for intercalated study.
