If you wish to apply for a one-year standalone CT3-level post in internal medicine training (IMY3 for short), this area of the website contains information to help you.
Successful completion of an IMY3 post will lead to completion of the full internal medicine stage 1 curriculum and enable eligibility for higher specialty training in any Group 1 physician specialty.
Recruitment to standalone IMY3 programmes is being piloted for posts starting from August 2025 and initially only covers UK training programmes in Scotland and the West Midlands. A decision on the pilot and future recruitment will be made in the summer of 2025.
The process is very similar to that used for physician higher specialty training recruitment, and so much of the IMY3 information directs to that website. Information in these pages will focus on things specific to IMY3.
The IMY3 section of this website has been divided into sections to help you navigate the process:
- Dates and posts - Key dates for the process and indicative post numbers available
- Am i eligible? - Key information about the eligibilty criteria.
- Planning your application - Key things to be considered before and after you apply.
